The first successful climb to the peak of Mount Everest was achieved on this day in 1953 by Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay.



This antique phonograph needle tin has little to do with the famed mountain other than as an unrelated brand name. You'd think there was some sort of "peak" reference going on, but the tin's artwork doesn't make that connection.
